10TH WORLD GRAND WUSHU FESTIVAL 2010SHANGHAI

REGULATIONS

1. ORGANIZER

Shanghai Sports Federation under the auspices of Chinese Wushu Association.

2. AIM

The World Grand Wushu Festival has been held successfully for nine times in Shanghai and has become a reputable event in the wushu community worldwide. This event will continue to be organized biennially to promote wushu to all the enthusiasts around the world with the purpose of introducing Chinese wushu to the world, displaying wushu with characteristics of various countries, exchanging skills extensively, promoting friendship and raising the standard of wushu. The Wushu Festival 2010 will take the opportunity of the World Expo Shanghai 2010 to promote Chinese wushu, improve the exchanges and development of the wushu culture in different countries, show the achievements in wushu circles and accelerate the prosperity and progress of the society.

The age groups will be divided into the following:

Group A (Youth Group): Under 18 years old (including 18, born after January 1, 1991)

Group B (Adult Group): 19-50 years old (including 50, born after January 1, 1960 and before December 31, 1990)

Group C (Aged Group): Over 51 years old (born before December 31, 1959)

COMPETITION EVENTS

A. Quan

● Changquan (Conforming to the latest Competition Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted

by International Wushu Federation)

● Nanquan (Conforming to the latest Competition Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted by International Wushu Federation)

● Taiji Quan (Conforming to the latest Competition Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted

by International Wushu Federation)

B. Weapons

● Long weapons: spear, cudgel and nan cudgel (Conforming to the latest Competition

Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted by International Wushu Federation)

● Short weapons: broad sword, sword, nan sword and taiji sword (Conforming to the latest

Competition Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted by International Wushu Federation)

C. Sparring:

Barehanded duel, weapon duel, barehanded against weapon (no more than three persons for each group and only one person-time of assistant training is allowed)

TRDITIONAL EVENTS (DEMONSTRATION EVENTS)

A. Quan:

● Traditional Quan

Category 1: Form-and will quan, eight-extreme quan, eight-diagram palm

Category 2: Ape"s back and forelimbs quan, cut-row circle quan

Category 3: Pictographic quans such as lying ground quan, mantis quan, monkey quan

and eagle"s talons quan

Category 4: Cha quan, pao quan, hong quan, two different styles of hua quan, shaolin quan,

etc.

● Nanquan (different traditional forms)

B. Weapons:

● Long weapons: spear and cudgel

● Short weapons: broad sword and sword

● Traditional weapons: single weapon, double weapons and soft weapons, including taiji sword, monkey cudgel, shaft sword, nan sword, nan cudgel, handle broad sword, tipsy sword, long-tassel sword, double swords, double hooks, double swords with long tassel, double swords with short tassel, double whips, broad sword and whip, nine-section whip, three-section cudgel, meteor hammer, etc.

C. Group Events: fundamentals, quan or weapon (more than 3 persons)

D. Special Events: Participating teams can make demonstrations with features of their own countries.

TAIJI QUAN

Participants shall be divided into two groups according to their ages:

Group A (born before December 31, 1959)

Group B (born after January 1, 1960)

Competition Events

A. Taijiquan: composite style taijiquan, competitive Yang, Chen, Sun and two different Wu

styles as well as traditional Yang, Chen, Sun and two different Wu styles (no special rules on the traditional Taijiquan)

B. Taiji Sword: 42-style competitive taiji sword

Demonstration Events

A. Taijiquan: 24-style taijiquan, composite style taijiquan, Yang, Chen, Sun and two different Wu styles (both competitive and traditional styles)

B. Taiji weapons: different weapons of taiji sword, broad sword, spear, cudgel, etc.

SPECIAL DEMONSTRATIONS

Special demonstrations for following events will be arranged according to entry and special competition rules will be attached.

A. Liangong in 18 exercises

B. Mulanquan

C. Karate

6. DURATION

A. Duration of Competition Events: Conforming to the latest Competition Regulations of

Wushu Routines adopted by International Wushu Federation.

B. Duration of Demonstration Events:

Quan and weapons (no more than 2 minutes); taijiquan (no more than 6 minutes); taiji

weapons (no more than 4 minutes); group events (no more than 5 minutes); special events:

individual events (no more than 3 minutes) & group events (no more than 5 minutes)

7. ORDER OF COMPETITION AND DEMONSTRATION

A. Order of competition shall be decided by drawing lot after the arrival of all the teams.

B. Order of demonstration events shall be decided by the Organizing Committee.

8. PLACES ARRANGEMENT

A. Competition Events: (marks shall not be given to invalid performance):

Places will be decided respectively according to the results of the men"s and women"s events. If the number of participants is 11 or over, the first six shall be awarded. If the number is 8-10, the first four shall be awarded. If the number is 5-7, the first three shall be awarded. If the number is 3-4, the first two shall be awarded. If the number is 1-2, the event shall be regarded as an demonstration one and no positions shall be decided.

B. Demonstration Events: (prizes)

● Routine events: First Prize (20%), Second Prize (30%) and Third Prize (50%) will be decided respectively according to the results of the different events and groups (men and women).

● Liangong in 18 exercises, Mulanquan and Karate: The prizes will be arranged according to the special competition rules of these three events.

C. Best Organization Prize: The prize will be awarded to the team leaders of the 10 top teams according to the number of the participants.

Best Coach Prize: The prize will be awarded to the coaches of the top ten teams according to the number of the first places or first prizes they win.

9. ENTRY

Wushu masters around the world will be invited. No limit to the number of participants and teams. Each participant can enter for no more than 3 competition or demonstration events. US$10 shall be charged for each extra one or altered one.

Each team and athlete should bring Health Certificate and Life Accidental Insurance Certificate. If any injury or illness occurs to an athlete, he or she will take his/her own responsibility.

10. ENTRY DATE

Preliminary entry with number of participants and events can be sent to the Organizing Committee immediately after the Regulations are issued.

Final entry with the names of participants and events should be sent to the Organizing Committee no later than June 1, 2010.

11. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS

A. The participants shall be responsible for their own international traveling expenses.

B. Each participant should pay US$30 as entry fee. Each participant can enter for no more than 3 competition or demonstration events. US$10 shall be charged for each extra one.

C. The accommodation and local transportation shall be arranged by the Organizing Committee. The package price is RMB680 per day per person for double occupancy. For those who have special requirements, please contact the Organizing Committee.

12. COSTUMES,APPARATUS AND PROPS

The costumes, apparatus and props shall be prepared by the participants themselves.
